The film Crypto Man has surpassed 20,000 viewers. With overwhelmingly positive audience reviews pouring in post-release, the film is showing strong signs of success through word-of-mouth.
Since its premiere on January 15, Crypto Man has topped the box office for independent and arthouse films and crossed the 20,000-viewer mark within just six days. The film is a crime drama based on the real-life cryptocurrency crash that wiped out 50 trillion KRW and sent shockwaves through the global financial market.
Director Harry Hyun, whose debut film 9 Times Fired was invited to the Cannes Series Festival, leveraged her background as an investigative documentary producer and her personal experience as a Luna Coin victim to craft this highly compelling and immersive film. The movie has also been receiving widespread praise for the stellar performance of the late Song Jae-rim.
This project is the final film of actor Song Jae-rim, who sadly passed away in November last year. In Crypto Man, he portrays Yang Do-hyun, a self-proclaimed business genius who develops a cryptocurrency called MOMMY and becomes entangled in the intoxicating allure of wealth, showcasing the character’s intricate emotional turmoil.
Depicting the hot-button issue of the era and humanity’s insatiable desire for success and wealth, Crypto Man is now showing in theaters nationwide.
