Hallyu star Lee Hong-gi of FTISLAND is set to host the new Korea-Japan romance variety show Be My K Guide: Korea-Japan Edition. Having debuted in Japan 13 years ago and possessing a strong local fanbase, Lee Hong-gi will lead the program with his fluent Japanese skills. Other panelists include Kenta, LIGHTSUM’s Hina and Yujeong, and popular YouTubers Yuka Channel (Yuka & Seung-chan Couple), who have nearly one million followers.
Be My K Guide: Korea-Japan Edition follows four Japanese female tourists and four Korean male guides as they explore Korea’s hottest destinations over a 3-night, 4-day journey, creating a unique travel-meets-romance reality show. The participants will experience 2:2 group dates, 1:1 tours, and intimate moments over drinks or scenic walks, navigating cultural differences and misunderstandings along the way in their quest for love.
Main host Lee Hong-gi stated, “With my fluent Japanese skills and deep understanding of both cultures, I aim to capture the subtle emotional nuances of the participants while showcasing Korea and supporting their youthful romance.”
Kenta, known from Produce 101 and active in both Korea and Japan, will act as a cultural interpreter. LIGHTSUM’s Japanese member Hina will provide insight from a Japanese female perspective, while Korean member Yujeong will offer candid reactions reflective of the local MZ generation. Meanwhile, Yuka & Seung-chan from Yuka Channel, a real-life Korea-Japan couple, will provide valuable insights into the differences in dating cultures between the two countries based on their own experience from dating to marriage.
The panel shared their excitement, stating, “While Korea and Japan have their differences, the feeling of love transcends borders. We hope to capture these special romantic moments as if we were traveling alongside the participants.”
With Hallyu star Lee Hong-gi, active idols, and a real-life Korea-Japan couple providing diverse perspectives, expectations are high for this sweet romantic journey of Korean and Japanese youths. Until the very last day, the show will keep audiences guessing: Will the participants fall in love, or will it simply remain an unforgettable travel experience?
Be My K Guide: Korea-Japan Edition will premiere on January 24 on Lemino, the OTT platform operated by Japan’s largest mobile carrier NTT Docomo, as well as on Korea’s Watcha and Wavve.
